This is a personal project I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I’m kind of a scavenger, and I find a lot of free furniture in the alley behind our home in LA. that only needs minor fixes to be awesome.
In this case, I found matching wooden barstools with atrocious padding stapled to the top. I ripped it off, sanded it down, and painted an octopus on one of them. For years I’ve been wanting to do a companion piece and I finally figured it out.
The above illustration is what’s going on the second stool. I need to do some tweaks and I’m not crazy about the background at this point, but the concept is all there. Here’s the octo stool:
